Study Abroad Day 29 + 30: Feasting in the past

Hi guys! Another recap of the past two days! Thursday I felt like staying in and playing around with makeup. I only left my room to buy something to eat (empty fridge). I wanted to get a Japadog, but I did not like the pricetags at all! For European standards 6 bucks might not be a lot for a "haute cuisine" hotdog (Japadog is a hotdog pimped out with Japanese condiments, lol), but for Canada that price is pretty steep. You can get huge hotdogs anywhere in the city for less than 3 bucks.

So I decided to opt for a frozen tv-dinner instead, seen as I would drop by Metro. I just hád to try them out, hehe. I chose the meatloaf with mashed potatoes (which costed like €1, and makes you wonder wth it is made of) and the Swanson (duh) fried chicken meal.

I forgot to take a picture, but honestly none of the meals were picture worthy, hihi. Of course I got way less than I expected (as always with these dinners), but they did taste okay (especially for the price). But admittedly I felt kind of icky when I finished, just knowing that I basically just ate a bunch of undefined crap. It also really creeped me out that the fried chicken smelled like freshly fried Popeyes chicken. I microwaved the (frozen) chicken... Sehr fishy. Anywho, while I was at the supermarket I could not help but to pick a box of these limited edition Oreo cookies to bring home with me to NL. I looove chocolate mint, in case you did not know.

On Friday one of my friends would host a dinner/houseparty in the evening, so I decided not to eat too much that afternoon. I did not have a thing to eat at home though, so after I stopped by the post office to send a card to my loved ones I decided to get something to eat from the Reznikoff café downstairs. The main reason for this was not having to pay anything for it (I have a card charged with dining dollars to spend there). German sausage was on the menu, so that is what I had with jalepenõs and sauerkraut.

When evening arrived my fellow UvA'er and I took the subway off to dinner, after stopping by the supermarket to buy some lettuce. My friend (the host) went all out cooking out lasagna, chicken, salad, plantains, and rice. The food was delicious, but unfortunately I forgot to take pictures. We drank wine and vodka (which Polish drink like water, according to the Polish representative present there, lol), and listened to oldschool R&B and hiphop the whole evening chilling and singing. I had such a wonderful time and did not get home until 4-5 am, lol. Hopefully we will get together again before I leave for NL again, maybe my (Dutch) friend and I can cook this time, hehe.
