Study Abroad Day 9: Do not go abroad during summer

Hi everyone! Today I was suppposed to go to an orientation meeting for the exchange programme I am in, and I had actually been looking forward to it all week. Finally a chance to meet some of my fellow students from abroad! Although it was raining like crazy (almost effin up my new shoes), I was excited to meet new people. And so I went with my fellow UvA'er. Unfortunately my excitement quickly turned into a disappointment, because there was no one there! Turned out we missed the meeting...

The session was rescheduled from the afternoon to morning, but we were the only ones that were not notified. But that is not all. Apparently, we are also not just the only Dutch students here this summer, but also the only Europeans for that matter! The other students (only 23) were either from Shanghai or California (mostly Chinese though). We were really bummed out about this, but I guess it challenges us in a way to network even more. We went out for a cheap lunch (wonton soup) and stayed in the canteen until it was closed—to avoid the rain, although we live across the street, lol.

When we got outside it was so terribly humid, we immediately rushed to the Robarts library. It was beautiful inside and so spacious—with exception of the tiniest offices ever! I will definitely be going there more often, so many books there waiting to be read by me! A minor point was the grumpy ass lady at the front desk. What was up with her anyways? It was so silent in there though, it was almost creepy. I expected any moment some irritated librarian would come up to me to tell me "SHHH", because of my camera noises, lol.

After I got home I decided to force my lazy butt to go out to do some grocery shopping. I went north for a change, and discovered a whole new part of Toronto. My two favorite stores (Metro and Shopper's Drug Mart) are right across the street from each other, not too far from where I am staying at. Happy happy, joy joy!

Because I had finally discovered our common room (with microwave and fridge) I decided to get some vegetables to steam and fruit to eat with oatmeal. For dinner today, I decided to try out some microwavable mac and cheese. I also (finally) got this gorgeous nude lipstick by L'Oréal (Fairest Nude), which is totally yesterday, but not available in The Netherlands. Thank the Lord it was on sale, lol.
