Hi guys! Have you seen my legs in Day 22's post? Although I chilled in the sun almost that entire afternoon, precisely nothing changed in terms of my complexion. Walking around in the burning sun with shorts and sleeveless tops unfortunately does not contribute to my (non-existent) bronzed skin. So I decided to go tanning again, this time properly at the beach. And so the UvA girls headed over to Cherry Beach to get their tan on. Enjoy reading!
When we arrived at Union station we found out the (only) bus that stops at the beach was off duty during the summer. Which makes absolutely no sense in my opinion. Summer... Beach... Anyways, the bus driver told us we would have to walk half an hour to our destination, not something that we looked forward to. But we were already on the bus, there was no turning back. And so we crossed the bridge over to Cherry Beach. The walk was definitely shorter than 30 mins, lol. Luckily we were not discouraged to continue our journey.
The beach was very different from the type of beaches I am used to. The sand (what sand?) was rather dark and unappealing. A lot of little stones instead of fine sand make up most of Cherry Beach. Also, when you walk into the water you keep stepping on stones of all sizes. I did not go far into the water, I still do not understand how people were able to with their bare feet. I could hardly keep my balance standing in the water, lol. But the sun was shining wonderfully and there was a sweet breeze because of the water. So we got comfortable and decided to lay down to get our tan on. As you can see down below I really needed some sunlight on my skin, hehe.
I was enjoying the view after baking for a while. Many airplanes flew right above us heading to the airport. I decided to lay back down for a bit, before I would start getting some homework done. But this was short lived.
These cheeky creatures kept bugging us from the moment we lay on the ground, ruthlessly trying to search for some food in between our stuff. Thus, when I was lying down and suddenly (1) water was splashed all over me, and (2) I felt something soft and fluffy against my legs I thought it was one of them. But oh no...
It was a darn wet doggy! He simply ran in between us on our towels, shaking in front of us a few times getting us wet and stealing a few strawberries while he was at it. Ugh.. Now the dog was one thing, I do not really blame him. What really irked me was the way his owner reacted. Which was to absolutely not care at all. I would have been so embarrassed if I were her. Especially seen as her dog had no business being at this part of the beach, with a special dog beach right next to it. Needless to say tanning was a wrap, lol. I went into the water to enjoy its lukewarm temperature and the beautiful view.
We decided to leave and check out the night festival we passed on our way to the beach. There was a huge Asian supermarket there, and I finally spotted some onigiri! I walked over to the ATM to get some money so I could buy one, but unfortunately the machine was acting up like crazy! The machine was probably empty, so that meant no onigiri *sob sob* Hopefully I will bump into another store selling such a wide range of Asian foods. I left the supermarket and decided to check out the festival, which turned out to be an Asian version of the Kwakoe festival in Amsterdam, lol. Food and music! Unfortunately I did not try anything out, seen as I am trying to eat healthy for a while.
When I got home I was starving, so I headed over to Top Sushi to get some salad and soup. The seafood soup was really nice!
