On my way to the foodtruck I remembered the Second Cup at college having nanaimo bars on display, so I went and bought one to cross another thing on my YYZ bucketlist. I saved it to eat in the evening, just in case I would suddenly suffer from a bad case of desperateforasugarrush-itis.

Study Abroad Day 35: Munchies for Nanaimo
Hi everyone! Although I really look forward to Wednesdays every week, because Wednesday is yoga day, I woke up feeling so incredibly soar I was not sure if I would make it to yoga class. I barely got myself to school without walking very slowly. After class I was really hungry, but did not want a heavy meal in my stomach just in case I would attend yoga. Thus, I decided to try out some noodle soup with dumplings from the Chinese foodtruck.

Study Abroad Day 34: Big Polish sausage
Hi guys! Today I wanted to go to the gym again, but unfortunately there was no class available that really sparked my interest. But because I still felt the need to work out, I decided to join a Zumba class. It was okay, but honestly I kept peeking at the clock because I wanted it to be over already. I was not necessarily too demanding physically, but I did not really enjoy it that much either. I went home to have some salad for lunch, but after some time I started to feel a bit restless. I was not feeling satisfied at all having done only Zumba that day, I needed to exercise some more! And so I went outside jogging for a bit. I went home, took a shower, did some homework, steamed veggies and salmon, and felt wonderful.

Study Abroad Day 33: "But Macy you're lactose intolerant!" "Life is short Ginger."
Hi everyone! In the morning I dropped by my teacher's office for some school related stuff. After that, me and my friend went to yoga class, because we really needed to relax our asses. Although the exercises hurt like hell, I felt pretty good after finishing the class. For lunch, we went to Bloor to eat some Japanese at Next Generation Sushi. I ordered the seafood soup (my new thing these days). Unfortunately it was not really stuffed for the price (I found exactly one shrimp in my soup T^T).

Study Abroad Day 32: Pink garbage bags
Hi everyone! Sunday = lazy day. Another one? Well duh, I need to work on my school stuff as well. Although it might not always seem that way, I did actually come here to study. So today I got some take-out and did my homework for the coming week. I ordered salmon terriyaki (which came with salad and soup), and decided to try out some sushi. I actually picked the Dynamite roll, because the menu did not mention any avocado being one of the ingredients.

Study Abroad Day 31: Vintage paradise and Chinese manners
Hi guys! To be totally honest with you, today I planned to go to Importfest to meet one of my inspirations Justene Jaro (who I have been a fan of since 2008), but the bad weather forecast and going to bed at 5AM were apparently too big of a hurdle for me to overcome. But ahwell, God willing on some other magical day I will maybe meet her and her sister Dawn. Btw, Importfest is like a huge tuned cars show, and yes I was planning to go there only to meet the models, lol. Cars do not interest me one bit, but import models on the other hand. I even got to take a picture with Levy Tran once, although she is not exactly an import model, hehe.

Study Abroad Day 29 + 30: Feasting in the past
Hi guys! Another recap of the past two days! Thursday I felt like staying in and playing around with makeup. I only left my room to buy something to eat (empty fridge). I wanted to get a Japadog, but I did not like the pricetags at all! For European standards 6 bucks might not be a lot for a "haute cuisine" hotdog (Japadog is a hotdog pimped out with Japanese condiments, lol), but for Canada that price is pretty steep. You can get huge hotdogs anywhere in the city for less than 3 bucks.

Study Abroad Day 28: I love me some cornbread
Hi everyone! This afternoon, after class I headed north to explore Bloor-Yorkville, to accompany my friend on a makeup shopping trip. Apparently part of Bloor street is like a huge PC Hooftstraat, and I had butterflies the whole time walking around there. On our way there we stopped by the Varsity Centre and Royal Ontario Museum to take some pictures. After she left for work I went looking for American Apparel to find a dress I have been eyeing for years. But boohoo, they do not sell this specific design in stores.

Study Abroad Day 25 + 26 + 27: Fiending Asian food
Hi everyone! This is a quick recap post of the past three days. Unfortunately I was way too lazy ass to update, seen as nothing really special happened on these days, lol. On Sunday I stayed in and chatted for a while with one of my cousins who is going to university soon prepared some readings, and watched series. For dinner I steamed some veggies with bass filet and shrimps. The remaining two days I mostly stayed in too, aside from attending class and going out for some food. Enjoy reading!

Study Abroad Day 24: Hello Kitty macarons, wet doggystyle and Asian Kwakoe
Hi guys! Have you seen my legs in Day 22's post? Although I chilled in the sun almost that entire afternoon, precisely nothing changed in terms of my complexion. Walking around in the burning sun with shorts and sleeveless tops unfortunately does not contribute to my (non-existent) bronzed skin. So I decided to go tanning again, this time properly at the beach. And so the UvA girls headed over to Cherry Beach to get their tan on. Enjoy reading!

Study Abroad Day 23: Pool for the elderly
Hi guys! Today I decided to try out a new sport because there were no yoga classes. And so I went swimming in the Athletic Centre's pool! I love swimming, although it is not something I do often. I used to swim every week as a child and even participated in a yearly "Zwemvierdaagse" (sort of competition). The class was centered around water aerobics and I was pretty excited to go. So after my morning/afternoon routine (i.e. yogurt and fruits for breakfast, salad for lunch), I headed over to the gym to meet with a friend.

Study Abroad Day 22: Pink velvet cupcake and Mr Hart
Hi everyone! With all of this damn sun shining for the past two weeks, my pale ass was still not tanned despite my numerous walks in the sun wearing bootyshorts. So I decided to take matters into own hands and asked my friends to go tanning outside. I woke up early morning to have breakfast and exercise a bit. After I quickly hopped in the shower I met one of my friends to head over to Cherry beach to get our tan on. Enjoy reading!
Unfortunately it started raining as soon as we arrived Downtown, so we ran into Eaton Centre to stay dry. After it stopped raining we decided to just stay close to home and hang out at Harbour Front near Lake Ontario.

Study Abroad Day 21: Peek into Chinatown
Hi guys! After catching a few hours of sleep I woke up again to work on my paper and have breakfast. Unfortunately, my head started pounding like crazy after a few hours, so I decided to take a nap before doing some proofreading to finish my assignment. I did not wake up because of my alarm, oh no. I woke up because I heard an annoying ass loud sound coming from the hallway. Completely confused I rushed downstairs in my pj's to check out what was going on.

Study Abroad Day 20: Late night sessions
Hi everyone! Sometimes it slips my mind that I am here for study purposes. But honestly, I do not mind at all! I have been loving all this me-time and taking it easy for a while. Living Downtown has just been wonderful, and the city keeps surprising me. But yes, it almost slipped my mind again. School. It is definitely not the case that I do not have anything to do for my class. I have lots of readings to do actually! We also have to hand in one paper a week. But regardless I try to take it easy most of the days and not stress about it.

Study Abroad Day 19: When one door closes another one opens
Hi everyone! This afternoon I had class, and afterwards I was supposed to work on my paper and go to the gym. Of course, not without complaining at the porter's desk about my filthy ass room full of bugs. I literally wanted to scream, because I felt I was being treated in a really rude manner. Just as I angry went online in hopes of finding someone to Skype with so I could tell my story and complain for a bit (sometimes you just need to), I heard some knocking on my door. It was the cleaning staff.

Study Abroad Day 18: In search of housing in YYZ
Hi guys.
No exclamation mark, because I am feeling quite sad. This is the first official day of being slightly homesick. I do not necessarily want to go home, because I am enjoying myself here. Studying here has been a wonderful experience to me until now. It is just that... I CANNOT STAND MY ROOM! I swear I picked the room from hell to stay in for my time here.

Study Abroad Day 17: Pop a molly I'm sweating Whoo
Hi guys! Of course I did not pop no mollys, lol. But I did finally (kind of) get my party on. Today started off as a lazy-ish day (I know these are getting pretty normal now, huh. I blame the weather, lol). I absolutely refused to go outside for any other reason than to get some food. Because of the heat (and lazy assness) I did not want to travel far, in other words just cross the street for some Chinese takeout. But of course, out of all damn days Kee's truck was not there! Just my luck..

Study Abroad Day 16: A week of cheating on one day
Hi everyone! Today was cheatdaaay! This is a familiar concept for those that are trying to lose weight or want to become fit. And even for those that are already in shape. As I said before, I have not really been craving junkfood since I got here. Everything has just been so overwhelming to me! But today, out of all days, I was craving junkfood so bad! And I also thought to myself, I can have vegetables whenever back at home, I should indulge in the stuff that is not available there! And so I got ready and took off to find me some grubbing Downtown.

Study Abroad Day 15: Fooled by the American dream
Hi everyone! Today I woke up late and was not hungy until it was afternoon. I decided once again to steam some veggies and fish, and while waiting for it to be prepared I took a look at the large tv screen in the common room. I tried messing with it, because I was so curious to watch some American tv. There was no one in the common room, so I had the room (and couches and TV) all to myself. Because I would only go out at night I made myself comfortable to enjoy dinner and some TV. Enjoy reading!

Study Abroad Day 14: Unlimited Japanese food heaven
Today I overslept, and I had to rush my ass to class after taking a shower. This meant no breakfast or finishing the workout I had started the evening before. After class—which was unfortunately not thát much of an improvement compared to the previous lectures, but I still have hope—my classmate/new friend and I met up with one of her friends for lunch. We decided to have unlimited sushi at New Generation Sushi on Bloor St., yumm!

Study Abroad Day 13: Nuttin, just chillin
Hi guys! Today was another one of those "I don't feel like doing shizz" days, lol. I took it easy because (1) my feet were hurting from the day before, and (2) I did not feel like going outside after the storm and all. I steamed some veggies for dinner, watched documentaries, skyped with some friends and family, and re-arranged my furniture. Although I do not have much of a view (see pictures below), I moved my bed to the windowside to make the room more spacious.
Study Abroad Day 12: I said "Oh Lord Jesus it's a flood"
Hi everyone! Today was my second day of class for 'Race, Class, Gender', which I was pretty excited about as always. Although I really enjoyed reading the literature in preperation of class, I was slightly disappointed with the style of teaching. Unfortunately we did not go as deep into the material as I had hoped for and also expected. The lecturer mainly summarized the readings, rather than analysing them and starting a discussion in class. But oh well... Maybe next time it will be better? Enjoy reading!

Study Abroad Day 10+11: Slooow weekends
Hi everyone! Weekend was so absolutely dull, I hardly remember it! I was sick in bed for most of the time, and doing homework when I was not sleeping. On Sunday afternoon I went out to get some food (I needed it, I have been eating way too little this past week), and Japanese it was! I ordered a bento box with salmon and tempura, because I really liked it the other day! Because I was not feeling well, I also decided to get a smoothie at Booster Juice, which was yummy, but not all thát.

Study Abroad Day 9: Do not go abroad during summer
Hi everyone! Today I was suppposed to go to an orientation meeting for the exchange programme I am in, and I had actually been looking forward to it all week. Finally a chance to meet some of my fellow students from abroad! Although it was raining like crazy (almost effin up my new shoes), I was excited to meet new people. And so I went with my fellow UvA'er. Unfortunately my excitement quickly turned into a disappointment, because there was no one there! Turned out we missed the meeting...

Study Abroad Day 8: Dying from inside
Hi guys! Today was unfortunately probably one of the worst days since I arrived in Toronto. It started out great, going to the gym after a small lunch. I thought to myself, why not grab a cup of matcha green tea latte on my way home to accompany me while studying? I really liked it when I tried it on Canada Day, and luckily Canadian coffee shops are so considerate they offer lactose-free milk too! And so I bought myself a cup, but I should not have! Within a short amount of time I was lying on my bed feeling sick to my stomach.

Study Abroad Day 7: On set of 'The Freedom Writers'
Hi everyone! Today was my second day of class, which I was looking forward to. It was my first class for the 'Race, Class, and Gender' course, definitely my kind of topic. Having learned from the day before, I decided to show up in class maybe 5-10 mins before class started, instead of the usual 15-20 mins. But even on this time schedule, I was way too early! Turns out that there is an unwritten rule at university her that class always starts 10 mins later than from what is on the program... Of course everyone but I was aware of this T^T. Enjoy reading!

Study Abroad Day 6: My unpleasant encounters with French culture
Hi everyone! I woke up this morning with my leg muscles hurting like hell from yesterday. I was definitely not looking forward to get up for my first day of class at all! But I managed find the energy to get up, take a shower, have breakfast, and of course go to school (which is literally across the street). I arrived there about 15 mins before class started, just to make sure I was on time. My first class would be Introductory French, which I was pretty excited about. Unfortunately, class turned out to be everything but what I expected...

Study Abroad Day 5: No one celebrates Keti Koti here
Hi everyone! Join me today for my first Canadian national holiday celebration! Although I had no clue of what to expect, I did forecast to be slightly hammered by the end of the evening. Just my luck the celebration would take place one day before classes started! But then again, I was not going to pass up this opportunity of getting my groove on just because of class! I would probably not be the only tired student the next day, right? Enjoy reading!
