Study Abroad Day 53: End of another chapter

Today was D-day II! Time to go back home to my family, and leave a new home and new friends behind. This study abroad experience passed by way too fast for my liking. It seems like it was just yesterday that I arrived here, but it was already time to back my bags again. My flight was in the evening, so I decided to do some last minute tourist stuff. Unfortunately, my planning went sour once again!

I totally underestimated the time it would take me to pack my suitcase! The reason why is that I did not have enough space in my suitcase... I was a teeny bit stressed out, because the porter's desk employee told me I would have to check out before a certain time (which proved to be not true in the end). I got ready and tried to stuff as much as possible in my bags and took some selfies, waiting for my friend to pick me up. I wanted to visit Queen's Park with her and have lunch at Bapko, before heading off to the airport.

We dropped off my luggage at my friend's house and went to Shopper's Drugmart for some last minute shopping. Because Bapko was a bit of a far travel and time was going fast, we grabbed some lunch at a random place. I had some onion rings and a Jamaican patty, which were alright. We intended to visit Honest Ed's one last time on our way to the park, but unfortunately I started feeling sick shortly after consuming lunch. With pain in my heart I decided to head back to my friend's house to get some rest before my flight, and skipped my visit to Honest Ed's and the park.

Although I was really excited to see my loved ones again, I felt really sad to be leaving Toronto. Before I knew it, it was time to get up and head to the airport already. I wanted to eat something before boarding, because I had not eaten much, but Swiss Chalet was already closed. So we got burgers and fries at a Coyote Jack's. Although it took a long wait, the food was delicious! I saved some of my burger for the flight, because my stomach was acting up again.

Then I said my goodbyes! On my way to customs my pink camera was confiscated because I was vlogging my goodbyes. Some security woman took it to the back to check it, and I had to delete my video T^T Because of this stunt I had to rush over to the gate, so I would not miss my flight. No tax-free shopping, meeeh.

At the gate it turned out I had 20 mins left before boarding *rolling eyes* Luckily I did not have to wait in line when it time to board, because of my ticket upgrade.

Compared to the plane I took to get here, this plane looked raggedy as heck. Small seats, no personal monitor, and the absolute worse... A child sitting next to me! I was already over the lack of luxury in this plane, because it meant less distractions, thus more sleep. But the little girl sitting next to me kept moving around and around. She could not sit still! At one moment she finally fell asleep, but she did so leaning on my shoulder *sigh*

Because I still felt pretty sick I was not too excited for dinner this time. But I was willing to at least try the boeuf bourgignon. I have been wanting to taste this dish ever since I saw that 'Julia and Julia' movie.

It was a huge disappointment. I should not expect too much from airplane food, but the sweet chili chicken I had on my other flight was gourmet compared to this. I only ate the few pieces of beef, the potatoes were awful, and do not even get me started on that salad with indefinable ingredients.

I was glad to find out breakfast would be served instead of a snack (pizza). I took all of it home, because there was no way my stomach would be able to handle yogurt.

And after all those hours of flying I was finally home... I felt confused seeing Dutch written everywhere, and I honestly wanted to jump back on the plane to go back to my new home Toronto. But... At least my loved ones were waiting to see me. Why did this journey have to end so quickly though? WHY?!!!
