After leaving the ROM we were starving because we had walked around for hours. Unfortunately the butternut squash soup was not available anymore that day (meeeeh). My tourist partner wanted to eat some sushi and I jumped aboard.
I knew I had enough space in my stomach for some Japanese food. We decided to have lunch/dinner at the same place I had sushi before (Next Generation Sushi), and this visit I was determined to order way more than last time! That time I was just weak man, ordering only 7 items *shame on me*.
First off were of course wakame salad (which is not on the menu actually, but you can just ask for it) and edamame. I like the fact that the salad here really only consists of seaweed! No green lettuce in the bowl, hehe.
Then it was time to order some sushi. The menu had so many choices of makis, I did not know half of them tbh. There was for instance a Crystal roll with asparagus and soy flavored nori (like nori is not tasty enough on itself, lol), and even a Canada roll! But one order already consisted of at least eight pieces (made to order), so we did not go wild ordering makis. Although I would have liked to try out more.
Now the Fusion maki (pictures above) was definitely a winner, although it was so heavy on the stomach. It was a Cali maki, topped with grilled salmon some special sauce. We also ordered the Korean seafood ricecakes, tempura shrimp, aaand of course my beloved seafood soup! Can you believe I found more fish in my mini soup than I did when I ordered a big bowl of it for $6 the other day?
On the seafood train I also ordered some squid balls, which were potato stuffed balls I believe with some random pieces of squid tentacles (eww) in between the mash. Knowing this would probably be my last time here, I was not ready at all to give up that fast! To my luck, a lot of the hot items can be ordered single. Thus I decided to only order one beef wrapped asparagus and one mini eggroll, hehe. Just for trying out! The sauce was no chili sauce I am used to, lol. But it was yummy nonetheless.
After we finished dinner, we decided to walk home. On our way, we stopped by Honest Ed's where I found the coolest pair of sunnies for only C$0.50! We also dropped by a liquor store (you can only buy alcohol in special stores here) to buy a bottle of wine for Caribana tomorrow, which I have been looking forward to since I got here!
