Mamma mia (review Mamma Maria)

Last week I went on a trip down south to visit my beauty enthusiastic cousin for a few days. Whenever I am with her I worry less about my dietary issues (e.g. lactose intolerance), because she deals with pretty much the same headaches! We warn each other for possible lactose overdoses, but also admittedly usually indulge in guilty pleasures like icecream and creamy pasta sauces together. What better way to enjoy something you are not supposed to have, than with someone who is in the exact same position, lol.

Antyways, during our trip to Zoetje (Zoetermeer) our stomach was rumbling AF, which makes you less sharp in making smart dietary choices. We wanted sushi at first, but because I did not want to overstuff myself (which I tend to do at AYCE places) we searched elsewhere. We ended up at a new Italian place my cousin had been eyeing for quite some time, called Mamma Maria. The restaurant's interior was very chique and the staff was very friendly, so I went in with a smile.

When I read the menu I was blown away. The prices were no different from your local Vapiano's! I was intrigued to say the least. Such a fancy schmancy place selling quality food for such a price? As my mouth was slowly started to water and my stomach kept protesting, the waitress brought us some bruschetta on the house. This gave me enough energy to focus for a few minutes and prevented me from over-ordering, lol.

We decided to order a small Napoletana pizza (€6) to share, despite the very clear milk sign next to the dish on the menu, the risotto ai funghi porcini (€7,75) for me, and raviolo al tartufo (€9,95) for my cousin. Lactose overload yes, but yolo right?

The food tasted wonderful and homemade, and that ravioli sauce was to die for. Compared to your favorite pasta chain Vapiano's, the portions might have been a tad bit smaller, but they were big enough to make you leave feeling content. The service was lovely, and we did not have to wait a very long time for our food. I would love to visit this place again someday and definitely give it two thumbs up!
