Possible dupe? (review Sleek Matte Me vs Essence XXXL longlasting lipgloss)

Maybe you spotted these two matte nude lip products in my previous make-up review. Like I mentioned in there, I am particularly obsessed with nude colored lipsticks. I had been on the hunt for a longlasting matte product for a while, eagerly waiting for the much raved about NYX Soft Matte Lipcream to become available again at the Douglas store. Unfortunately they are still out of stock to this day, but luckily I came across the Sleek Matte Me lipcream a few weeks ago.

A week later I stumbled upon a matte lipgloss by Essence in a rather similar color. Being very satisfied with the Sleek lip cream, I hoped I might have found a dupe that is both cheaper and more widely available (although Sleek's lip cream is already rather budget).

As soon as I swatched the products next to each other, I knew they would both deliver the promise of being "matte" in a completely different way. Not only were the colors pretty different on my skin (Sleek having a pink undertone, compared to Essence's brown undertone), their texture was also not near comparable. Sleek's lip cream is rather runny compared to Essence's lipgloss' rather buttery texture, although you would expect the opposite from their names.

The lipcream also dried up really matt and did not flinch one bit once applied and dried fully, whilst the lipgloss was slightly shiney and easy to wipe off.

On the picture above you can tell that Sleek's lip cream (left) is way matter than Essence's lipgloss (right). Although I believe Sleek's product delivers the best when it comes to the matte game, I still find the Essence's gloss to be a nice product to work with. The color pay-off is good, and I can apply the gloss without the use of a mirror, which is not a great idea for the lip cream. Definitely not a dupe, but surely a good staple in your drawer for every day use!
