Study Abroad Day 4: Canadian gays ain't got nothing on the Dutch

Hi everyone! Today I went out without a clear plan. I mainly wanted to take advantage of the weather forecast, which claimed the day would be very sunny. Unfortunately when I looked outside of my window, everything but sun could be seen. I was about to give up on the day and planned to stay in and watch movies in bed all cosy. But then I figured, I have enough days like these ahead of me, I need to get my butt out and do something. So I decided to do a (requested) campus tour for my friends and family to see. Enjoy reading!

I walked around St. George campus to take pictures of the area near the dorms. As you can see on the map below, campus itself is huge (entire map). Starting at my residence hall, I walked down south to go Downtown for some fruit, via King College's Circle and Queen's Park.

Study Abroad Day 3: Wandering butterflies

Hi guys! Although today was supposed to be a day of slight rain and thunder, I managed to stroll around for quite a bit. Even now, while typing this, the sun is still shining outside! I woke up around 7AM with a pain in my neck and decided to go Downtown to buy some stuff. Because I felt so cold at night I wanted to march off into the centre with a hot water bottle on my shopping list. Mind you it is summer here, lol. I decided to leave early because of the forecasted thunderstorms. Enjoy reading!

Study Abroad Day 2: Man, I love the Chinese

Hi guys! I am so tired! I just finished writing about my first day in Toronto, wishing it was already bedtime. I have to wait two more hours before I can go to bed in the hopes of overcoming my jetlag. This has been a slow (and possibly boring to you, lol) day. But I have to take advantage of it and get as much rest as possible before my classes start. Enjoy reading!

Study Abroad Day 1: Major jetlag

Keep chasing your dreams until they grow sick of you! I'm just sayin... I have been dreaming of studying in America since I was little (especially in The States). And now I am finally here! Yesterday I arrived safe and sound in world city Toronto. Due to my jetlag I was unfortunately not able to blog yesterday, seen as I was knocked out at once after consuming my dinner. Although my body has still not completely adjusted to the time difference, I decided to blog about yesterday and today's recap. Enjoy reading!

En suite (review Inntel Hotel Zaandam)

Like I discussed in a previous post, I wanted to spend some relaxed qt with my so before taking off to Toronto. We booked a suite at the Inntel Hotel Zaandam, which is located next to the city's central train station. Although the hotel looks like a life-sized playhouse, the hotel's interior is quite luxurious. Our room was on the 9th floor (the little blue house). From our room we had a view of the train station and main shopping street.

The last supper

Before I left for my study abroad adventure in Toronto, I made sure I took a day or two off to spend some quality time my so. We decided to look for a hotel that offered wellness facilities and ended up booking a suite at the Inntel Hotel Zaandam. We deliberately chose something right outside of the capital to escape the crowdedness.

Down south (Maastricht citytrip)

Today I went to visit one of my friends who lives and studies all the way in Limburg (south of the Netherlands). I had not seen her in ages, which is so strange seen as we used to live right next to each other on campus. Before my big departure abroad we decided that we just had to meet up once more just in case one of us moves far away again. It was my first time visiting Maastricht and I had a wonderful time. The city is so beautiful and picturesque and I had a hard time returning back to the north.

QT with friends

The time has almost come to say goodbye to my friends and family, because I will be heading off to my adventure awaiting me abroad. Although I do not see my girlfriends often, because we are all very busy working on our careers, I talk to them on almost a daily basis. I decided to throw a little goodbye reunion dinner and invited some other friends we went to high school with too.

American wedding bells

I have to admit on being slightly addicted to wedding type of shows, you know the usual on TLC. Four weddings, Bridezillas, Say yes to the dress etc. etc. I even have a tendency of saving wedding-esque pictures to either my phone or laptop that inspire me. Now to be honest, I have not been to many weddings. Weddings are not that of a big thing in The Netherlands, and (especially?) not in the cultural sphere I was brought up in. Not anymore at least. And the weddings I have attended are not at all like those fancy schmancy affairs in the U.S. or Canada.

Kamsahamnida (review Miss Korea)

Over five years ago I always looked forward to Saturday mornings. Not because I liked getting up early in the weekends (that was the part I pretty much hated), but because I would have one hour of Korean class. I have always been fascinated by Asian culture, but that of Koreans caught my attention most. I am still of the opinion that the Korean language is pleasant to the ear, and that Koreans are very enthusiastic to share their culture with others (from my experience at least).

Pink fever (review Casio JE-10)

I have been loving this sunny weather in this cold little country I live in. It has given me terrific opportunities to try out my new pink camera, while being out and about preparing for my trip abroad. Before I ordered this Casio JE-10, I looked online for reviews to see whether it would be a good purchase or not.

Study Abroad: Queens, Kings, or Canada Day?

In the country where I am from (The Netherlands, just in case you are one of those smarties that believe Amsterdam is an actual country. Although it definitely feels seperate from its neighboring cities, unfortunately it is still not independent) we annually celebrate our (former) queen's birthday. Atleast, that was until this year. Next year it will be Kingsday, which although I like our king still sounds a bit off to me. Anywho, I have always been very excited for Q-day, usually spending my day strolling around my beautiful city getting my walk on (and burning carbs hooray) and party out in the open (I always prefer the 'gay-street', people there know how to get their groove on).
