I have to admit on being slightly addicted to wedding type of shows, you know the usual on TLC. Four weddings, Bridezillas, Say yes to the dress etc. etc. I even have a tendency of saving wedding-esque pictures to either my phone or laptop that inspire me. Now to be honest, I have not been to many weddings. Weddings are not that of a big thing in The Netherlands, and (especially?) not in the cultural sphere I was brought up in. Not anymore at least. And the weddings I have attended are not at all like those fancy schmancy affairs in the U.S. or Canada.
Not surprisingly, I have always dreamed of a wedding such as the usual in the latter places. Anywho, when my so told me we were invited to a wedding I was stoked as soon as I saw the card. There was an actual request to RSVP. This is not common for the type of weddings I am used to (and absolutely do not want as well, lol). We dressed up in matching colors (dark blue) and had a splendid time, hehe. I wore a dress by Asos and my Dior shoes. I planned on (finally making use of) my pink big bow Juicy Couture clutch, but when the time had come I forgot it at home.
There were seating arrangements (also not common for the weddings I have been to), and everyone got a small box stuffed with macarons in the themecolors as a wedding favor. Also, on the box were our names and table number. The bride looked gorgeous during their first dance, but I decided not to post any pictures of the wedding party (because I do not have their consent, lol).
There was a buffet of Indonesian food (which is common for the weddings I have attended, lol. Not my preference though if I ever would get married). But the most exciting things were definitely the cocktailbar (with custom-made cocktails) and the dessert buffet! I am still not sure when and why I developed a sweet tooth. I almost never ate candy as a child, I got sick from it very easily. I preferred crisps or something similar and salty. But now, I cannot do a week without icecream (at one point I had it everyday, but my poor stomach) and get all excited when I spot cookies and cupcakes.
Mind you I cannot digest this sweet stuff properly, most of the time. But I cannot help myself! My so and I shared the plates, but there was actually way more to choose from.
In between the ceremony and reception we went out for lunch at a place called Jinso. I never knew they sold Asian food there, lol. I ordered the Korean salad, which was delicious. But honestly, I did not expect that much food! I chose the salad to eat "light", but that plan did not work out at all. My so had the Jin So burger if I am correct.
All-in-all the wedding was lovely, and the open bar with signature cocktails was a big hit!
