Single Ladies' Val Stokes (Eps 1)

One of my favorite shows to watch back in 2011 was most definitely VH1's "Single Ladies", featuring Stacey Dash and LisaRaye. Although the second season also had me sitting on the edge of my chair thanks to Keisha's storyline, I am still bummed we did not get to see Val back! One of my main reasons for missing her on the show, was her fabulous style! Anthony L. Williams, whose name you might have recognised from Heidi Klum's show "Project Runway", is the brain behind all the styling of the ladies throughout the show.

This new series is dedicated to Val's style in season 1, and will show you all the outfits she wore to inspire your wardrobe! Underneath every outfit I briefly share my personal opinion on them. Enjoy! Warning: Contains spoilers

Episode 1: Two Hour Premiere

Outfit 1

I felt so bad for Val, already within the first 10 mins of the show! What a heartcrushing way to become a single lady again. I believe I (almost) dropped a tear, or at least had to stop my heart from bumping out of my chest due to fury! My favorite line of this scene: "I'm saying, if you like it put a ring on it! If not, let's stop wasting each others time! Life is too short". Little did Val know this experience from hell was a "blessing in disguise", as Keisha would call it. At least she looked fabulous in her purple, draped, one shoulder, showing off your legs-dress being dumped...

Outfit 2

This is such a cute summer outfit! I think white really complements her gorgeous skin tone. I really love those heels, although I usually have a "minimum 10cm heel"-policy I adhere to.

Outfit 3

This outfit just screams business woman to me! Although it is a bit too revealing to actually wear to the office. Unless you run the place, hehe. I really like the bra and bold shoulders. I would have liked to see the jacket longer though, I just find the bellybutton peephole a bit too much.

Outfit 4

No words for this really though. She looks gorgeous as always. No wonder Quinn could not resist her.

Outfit 5

I believe those are the heels I really like again! I am definitely digging the trenchcoat inspired dress.

Outfit 6

If I am correct, this dress was designed by Anthony L. Williams. Its low-cut front reminds me of my American Apparel Gloria Mesh bodysuit. I rocked that number a few years ago, paired with a black mini skirt. Let me know if you want me to post a picture of it!

Outfit 7

I have honestly never been a top and jeans kind of girl. The only pair I wear on a regular base (as in they actually get to see daylight every once in a while) are my IRO jeans, and those were gifted to me by my internship partner. But Val's ability to make jeans look fabulous just makes me want to run to the nearest H&M and buy me a pair! Note the detailing on the jeans adding to its casual-fab factor!

Outfit 8

This outfit was rather simple, but I think it is obvious Anthony wanted all focus to be on that statement necklace!

Outfit 9

This was one of my least favorite outfits of this episode, due to its simplicity. I do appreciate the shoulder detailing.

Outfit 10

What caught my attention looking at Val's outfit, was her choice of accessorizing. A piece of rope as a necklace would look odd on most people I assume, but Val knows how to pull it off!

This concludes my first TV-celeb inspo post, starring Val Stokes from VH1's "Single Ladies". Let me know in a comment below which outfit you liked the most!
