Tiny dinner #5 (review Supperclub Cruise A'dam)

Last year I posted about my experience at the other Supperclub location in Amsterdam, which was my first time at a SC restaurant. The difference between the two is the absence of a club at this location, which is probably because it is on a boat. Again, upon entry one is welcomed by friendly staff members who show you to the bar to wait at before being seated. This bar (on the upper deck) looked very comfortable with huge black pillows to sit on. Unfortunately, there were not enough of these couches available for the number of guests. After finishing our drinks we were seated in a bright white room, filled with white pillows. Inevitably, we had to take our shoes off.

After the boat took off for the cruise, the blinds went up and a gorgeous view of the Ij lake was presented to us. Because I knew that courses at SC are not served consecutively, I made sure we ate something beforehand. Also, the cruise offered a four course menu instead of five. The first course was a salad with yogurt dressing topped with some toasted bread. The salad was flavored nicely, but it was nothing extraordinary. At least we got a fork to eat with instead of a rubber glove.

Of course it would not be a dinner in true SC style if not at least one dish was served in a remarkable manner. The second course, which was peasoup, was served in an Orangina bottle with a straw. On top of the bottle was a bitterbal, which is a Dutch snack made from ragoƻt. Despite the fairly cheap looking presentation the soup tasted great and luckily, one can hardly go wrong with a bitterbal.

Aside from odd food presentation, an evening at SC is also not be complete without some form of surprising entertainment. As we were waiting for our main course (3rd), a lady dressed in black widow style clothes appeared out of nowhere and started dancing to dramatic music. All of the sudden the lady showered herself with a plate of spaghetti bolognese. Before we could process this queer spectacle, a juicy pink steak with diced potatoes was served. We closed off the evening enjoying the wonderful view over some small talk, and enjoying our dessert of dark chocolate brownie, with milk chocolate mousse and white chocolate icecream.

All in all, I would definitely choose the other SC location's menu over the cruise's any day. However, I did enjoy the atmosphere at the latter much more. The night had a less hectic feeling, the seating was much more comfortable, and one could enjoy a gorgeous view over dinner.
