Even though my so is not big on birthday celebrations, I decided a while ago to surprise him with a luxurious hotel stay. I wanted to pick a hotel that offered some spa facilities and which was not located in the center, just to get away from it all for a bit. My choice fell on the Mercure Amstel Hotel and I picked the suite that had a bubble bath and rainshower. Before booking I looked for some reviews online and actually found a professional review by Oyster.com.
The actual room looked pretty much the same with exception of the bathroom.
I think the change in interior is definitely a positive, because it makes the bathroom more spacious. I could appreciate the two sinks instead of one, and the strategically placed rainshower.
Upon arrival we were welcomed with a message on the tv-screens and with a bottle of water, some fresh apples, and chocolates.
Although the hotel had many facilities to offer, such as a swimming pool and sauna, we did not make use of them. The bed and bathtub were relaxing enough for my taste.
