To be frank, I never celebrated V-day in the past, nor did I ever have the urge to do so. I found it quite commercial, cheesy, and simply "too much". It reminds me of Christmas decorations before winter has even started. Up until last year I did not celebrate it, but I have been convinced that the right person will make you fiend the most random things. For my first Valentine's day last year we went out for dinner and booked a suite, but this year I did not want anything special except for flowers and a card.
Because I had to work that evening we decided to go out for lunch at a place I had been wanting to visit for a long time. I once posted a review about my first time having real Korean food at Miss Korea, and unfortunately I was not too convinced. This restaurant, named Yokiyo did not offer an all-you-can-eat concept, but there was a Korean BBQ present. Because we were there for lunch, however, we opted for the bulgogi bibimbap, a kimchi and pork stew, and bulgogi kimbap.
If you are looking for good quality Korean food in Amsterdam, I would definitely recommend you to visit this place. The food was delicious in every aspect and the Korean roasted rice tea tasted wonderful, so I left very content. It was pure out of gluttony that I decided to have a piece of turtle cake at De Drie Graefjes' American Bakery. Usually I am able to stuff my face with their American pastries, but the turtle cake unfortunately was not something I enjoyed. I have to admit I am not the most avid fan of pecan or caramel, but the chocolate cake without the frosting could not even save the dessert for me.
