AW14/15 press days

Today I had a very busy day full of PR presentations to visit. It was really exciting, because it meant seeing the newest Autumn/Winter 14/15 collections! It is common knowledge that you work ahead at least one season in this industry, so currently we are working on our AW issues, even though summer has barely made its entrance. Sometimes I forget we have just entered the SS14 season, because I am already contemplating which color to dye my hair and whether to paint my nails dark green or plum.

I loved every single part of the visits, even though it was very hectic. What basically happens is that you get invited as a stylist, through post or email, by a designer or PR agency, to visit their showroom on a certain date for a preview of the latest collections. You RSVP, and you visit. This is actually a really good networking opportunity and chance to catch up with some clients. The designer or representatives are able to tell you something more about the collections and the inspiration behind them and what not. Then you (usually) make a selection of the items you would really like to borrow for a future shoot or production. You talk, eat, drink, and leave with a goodiebag stuffed with presents and and press material. And then you are on to the next!

After MarcCain we visited a presentation by Mooi PR, an agency that represents a portfolio of various clients, such as Swarovski, Hunkemöller, and ASH shoes.

And then it was time for lunch! We needed energy to make through the rest of the day. After lunch we visited two more agencies, of which the latter (Schoon den Boer) showed us the new collection by & Other Stories. This British chain will soon be opening a store in Amsterdam, and I cannot wait to visit it!

I left home happy and with tired arms, because of the heavy goodiebags!
