After three years of blood, sweat, and tears. Countless sleepless nights, headaches from having to read and write too many academic papers, and let us not get started on those dreadful core courses such as logic and statistics. We had already been looking forward to our graduation the first day we started university. Because we were the founding class no one had any idea of what graduation would look like, where it would be hosted, or whether we would be required to wear a cap and gown.
Unfortunately, graduation was hosted at the VU university academic building, and we were only asked to wear a cap. The tassel color was determined on basis of you major (mine was Social Sciences). Knowing I would not have to wear a gown this gave me an excuse to go shopping for a special dress. I ended up buying a long cream silk gown by Ted Baker with a black bow in front. As a graduation gift my so also let me pick out a nice pair of Dior shoes to go with the dress. Despite of the heel height, I still needed the dress to be hemmed.
The whole ceremony passed by so quickly, before I knew it I was on stage accepting my degree and taking pictures. I did not stay long, because I was meeting some family members for a graduation dinner!
I had a lovely dinner and received a bunch of sweet gifts, such as a Hello Kitty mug and piggy bank, a Roberto Cavalli snake ring, and Lanvin perfume. After dinner my so and I had some drinks on a terrace to close of the evening.
Very soon after, the night we were looking forward to was upon us. Graduation party! Seen as we studied at a university college and lived in a dormitory, my friend/classmate/neighbor and I thought it was very appropriate to throw an American themed bash. That same night there was also a big red cup party hosted in a club downtown, so we figured we would continue the party there.
Unfortunately our DJ cancelled on us too late for us to find another one, so we focused more on getting (our friends) liquored up than dancing during our party. I do not have any pictures of the club, we honestly did not remember much of that evening. I woke up the next morning with a purple knee, so I believe I had a wonderful time indeed, hehe (HAM).
