Pink glitter platforms (DIY)

Jeffrey Campbell Lita's were definitely thé shoes of 2012. I had been obsessed with them since earlier on though, having my eyes on a grey suede pair and a limited edition denim version. However, these booties did not come with a cheap price and were not even for sale in the Netherlands. Because I did not want to risk ordering the wrong size I never placed an order.

Thus, when I saw a faux pair displayed in a store I went for it. I am not the type to rock replica shoes or bags, but first off I do not consider Jeffrey Campbell a high-end designer (although he designs some fine ass shoes), and secondly I had no problem rocking the inspired Foxy's I bought at Bershka a few years ago. So why be hypocritical about this? Though I have to admit, the shoes looked way too fake when I saw them at first. That ugly wooden print on the heels just baffled me. So, I decided to customize them!

Above you can see the shoes in their original state. A gorgeous pink color yes. Unfortunately, also heels that hurt my eyes. Because the shoe is mainly made out of faux suede material, I decided to only mess around with the heels, by covering them with glitter and sequins.

All I used were: (1) glue (white, but dries transparant), (2) a brush for the glue, (3) a thick black permanent marker, (4) loose glitters, and (5) sequins.

First I used the marker to change the heel's color by simply drawing over it. I used tape to cover the fabric of the shoe on the edges of the heel and worked my way down, line to line. To be honest I already liked the shoes way more at this point, the glossy black looked really gorgeous.

Then the messy part of this DIY project began. I used a brush to apply a bit glue and quickly sprinkled glitter over that spot. Be sure to lay a piece of plastic foil underneath the shoes, so you can catch excess glitter that falls off. That same step I repeated until the whole heel was covered in black glitter. I made sure to dry the heel in between with a blowdryer, just so that I would not wipe any glitter away with the brush.

Lastly, I applied a line of glue in the center of the heels, and used the brush to spread it evenly. Then I took some sequins and neatly covered the line of glue with them. I did this in layers, blowdrying the heels in between. When I was finished doing this, all I did was spray tons of hairspray over the heels for security!

And tadaa!
