The last shoot I fully assisted with was the lingerie shoot for the November issue. I helped brainstorming for the theme, and wrote the shopping for it. During the shoot I assisted, and shot some stills for a denim spread.
Before the shoot, I had to collect some of the lingerie samples. On one day I was asked to drop by a few agencies to get samples, and this time they would be notified about my visit. Nope, not really. Once again I arrived and the girls there were dumbfounded, because they had no clue about the shoot or my that I would visit to borrow samples. #andysachsmoment
Supposedly, this was my last shoot. But the week after, I was notified at the last minute that I would have to assist at another denim shoot, which I did not plan on. I was busy returning samples I had to hoard for the past weeks, and agencies were chasing after me! When I got to the shoot, all I had to do was steam the wrinkles out of some clothes... #andysachsmoment
I also, unexpectedly got to visit two shows at the Amsterdam fashionweek. I actually was not up for it at all, because my stomach was acting up and I did not feel cute with the outfit I had on! My first fashionweek, and I my outfit was not even on point. To clarify, I wore jelly sandals with a dress and denim blouse, frizzy hair, barely any makeup, and was carrying two heavy bags. When my supervisor sprang the idea on me I thought this was such a rare opportunity I had to join her, and decided to quickly go home after work to freshen up and take some painkillers. Unfortunately, she abruptly decided we should catch another show first, as I was preparing to go home. I was told not to worry about my outfit, because we were both dressed non-glam. When we met at the staircase to leave together I was the only non-glam Cosmorette, because she decided to wear a glam dress from the closet... Meh. #andysachsmoment
Well, aside from the fact that I felt totally awkward and out of my comfortzone walking in between all these girls parading in pretty dresses and high heels, I am glad that I got the opportunity to experience my first real fashionshow (by Ilja Visser), and observe all these people from the industry.
After one day of fashionweek it was done with the fun! Back to returning samples and writing shoppings! The only fun thing I still got to participate in was to model for the November issue. Remember the jeans I had to collect in my last update? Well, this was about 1/5th or less of the total I had to return.
I also had to return all of the lingerie samples from our last shoot, of which some had to be shipped internationally. Some of them, however, I had to return to agencies. I was given a bag full of samples, who were supposedly from one agency. These were samples that I did not check in, so I pretty much did someone a favor by returning them. When I got to the agency, it turned out there were a few items in the bag that definitely did not belong to them. #andysachsmoment
In this industry, or any other for that matter, you sometimes wonder if it is you, or that people are really out to make a fool out of you. But no matter what the case is, dust that ish off your shoulders and grow a thick skin! Remember your purpose, and strive to do the best you can at it!
